Towing prices in Hudson County, NJ: one booking fee for all twelve towns, $129 online, and the mileage spoken before a truck leaves

Everything a Hudson County tow can cost is written below. Guttenberg pays what Bayonne pays, 3 a.m. costs what noon costs, and the drive across Newark Bay is never billed. Miles are spoken on the call, the four roadside jobs carry fixed prices, and local businesses can run an account.

How a tow is priced

A Hudson County tow comes down to two numbers: the booking fee and the miles to your destination

Every Hudson County tow is the $149 booking fee ($129 online) plus the mileage from the car to the address you choose, both spoken before any truck leaves; a third figure appears only if the car needs garage work, dollies or winching, and only once you agree to it.

01

The booking fee, identical in all twelve towns

It covers the truck reaching you and the car going onto it, in Bayonne or North Bergen, at noon or at 4 a.m. Call it in for $149, or put it through the booking page for $129. That covers ordinary passenger vehicles; a box truck, bus or tractor calls for heavier equipment and gets its own quote.

02

Miles counted from your car, not from across the bay

The yard is in Linden, 25 to 40 minutes from most Hudson County streets, and none of that drive shows up on your bill. The miles start where the car sits and stop where it is going. A Union City tow to a Union City mechanic stays short on the quote.

03

Garage pulls, quoted before the driver goes in

Much of Hudson County parks underground or in decks under towers. If the car is below a low ceiling, locked in park or wedged against a column, the driver may need dollies, skates or a low-profile truck. That work is priced on the call, never added at the curb.

04

Things we never bill

Nothing for being in Hudson County instead of next to the yard. Nothing for nights, weekends or holidays, and no fuel surcharge on the miles.

A friend riding up front adds nothing. With no impound yard of ours, there is never a storage bill or a release charge.

Cash and card cost the same.

Tell us the pickup spot, the drop-off and the vehicle, and the total follows.

Jump starts, spare tires, lockouts and fuel in Hudson County: each one flat price

Booster packs, lug wrenches, entry tools and spare fuel ride on every Hudson County truck, so a dead battery, a flat, locked keys or an empty tank each cost one fixed amount with no miles added, and the dispatcher always tries that route before booking a tow.

Jump start

Commuters at Secaucus Junction, a sedan left a week on a Heights block, a delivery van at a Kearny dock on a January morning. When the cells are too far gone to recover, the driver hooks up right there instead of sending a second truck later.

Flat tire change

The spare goes on where the car stopped, on Route 440, Kennedy Boulevard or a Weehawken side street. No spare, or two flats, turns it into a tow to the tire shop you pick.

Car lockout

Keys locked inside at Newport, the Harmon Meadow lots, a Hoboken restaurant or a Bayonne supermarket. Damage-free tools, no smashed window.

Fuel delivery

Out of gas on Tonnelle, Route 3 or the Truck 1 & 9 bridges. Enough gas or diesel to reach the next station, any hour of the day.

Suspect it just needs a boost or a spare? Mention it, and that goes out ahead of a tow.

One county price versus a dozen quotes

Why one printed Hudson County rate sheet protects you better than twelve town listings

A single sheet for the county means Kearny, Hoboken and Guttenberg all see the figure printed here, with miles announced before dispatch and our own name at the top of the slip, rather than an ad whose teaser figure climbs once a stranger's truck pulls up.

Search in Hudson County and you get a listing for every town and a few for every neighborhood, many routed to the same out-of-state call center. Each quotes its own number for a truck it has never seen.

Whichever outfit you ring, get three answers before agreeing: the base charge, the miles to where the car is going, and the company printed on the paperwork.

Collisions raise the risk. When somebody else picks the wrecker, your car can land in a yard that meters every day it sits there and then wants a fee to let it go.

Book us while you are still at the scene and let the officer know which shop the car is bound for, and no yard gets involved. Insurers and motor clubs that refund towing want a line-by-line slip, and that is what our driver hands over.

A quote is free and it is the same number in every Hudson County town.

FAQ

Pricing: common questions

Short answers to what people ask about this page; the dispatcher can answer the rest.

Is $149 the whole price of a Hudson County tow?

That buys the drive to you and the hook-up. The miles to the drop-off are added and read aloud first; only garage handling or a winch pull would change the figure, and you approve it first.

Why is it $129 online?

You enter the details the dispatcher would otherwise type, so the $20 comes off. If you are in traffic, call instead.

Do the North Hudson towns pay extra because they are farther from Linden?

No. The booking fee is the same in every Hudson County town, and mileage starts at your car, not at the yard.

Is there a late-night or holiday rate?

No. The price list stays the same around the clock and around the calendar.

Will I be charged for storage?

No. We do not keep a yard. Your car rides straight to the address you named, which leaves nothing to hold and nothing to pay to get back.

Does it cost more to get a car out of a parking garage?

Only if the car needs dollies, skates or special handling, and that is priced on the call before the driver goes in.

Anything else? Ask on the call.
